WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN A HARDWARE MANAGER ROLE?

Reporting to the Technical Engineering Manager, the Hardware Manager’s key duties will be;

· Day-to-day and strategic planning and management of tasks and resources

· Implementing department direction to achieve agreed goals.

· Represent the department's interests within the wider R&D organisation.

· Reviewing, developing, implementing, and managing systems, processes and procedures within the department

· Ensure all designs are effectively and efficiently designed and reviewed, working within the multi-disciplinary R&D teams.

· Work with internal departments as needed to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.

· Assisting relevant departments in fault-finding designs to the component level, utilising schematics, PCB layouts and internal resources as appropriate

· Assist relevant departments in answering technical customer enquiries.

· Document the requirements and process for all development projects passing through the department, reporting to stakeholders as needed.

· Ensure designs meet cost, performance, and quality standards and safety requirements

· Lead in the review of design and product documentation, including build documents and product manuals.

· Lead in the handover to Product Management, Production and Customer Service

· Supporting the Technical Engineering Manager where necessary

· Managing, supporting, and evaluating engineers’ performance by;

· Providing regular feedback and conducting annual PDRs

· Motivating and developing the team to achieve objectives and targets

· Providing structure, direction and purpose

· Having responsibility for all people-related management within the team, including absence and performance.

AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE WHICH MATTER MOST FOR THIS ROLE

Skills and attributes:

· Ability to work within a multi-functional team.

· A leadership approach.

· Astute attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

· Background knowledge of Electronics, including schematic-level de-bugging

· A logical and innovative approach to problem-solving.

Experience

· Management experience in a team-oriented workplace

· Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a department.

· Bachelor’s, or equivalent industry experience, in Electronic Engineering or equivalent subject

· Electronic Engineering and Design Experience, including circuit design, schematic capture and PCB layout

· Experience within the Test and Measurement Industry

· Experience using the latest Altium Designer Package

· Experience with project management software such as Smartsheet and Teamwork
